Stylish Celebrity Wedding - Christina
Aguilera and Jordan Bratman
Christina Aguilera and music
executive Jordan Bratman got
married on November 19th, 2005
at a posh Northern California
resort. It was said to be the
best kind of celebrity wedding
– lavish details from
a Castilian castle to a 14-piece
orchestra, and a beautiful bride.
It is the first marriage for
both. Bratman, who has dated
Aguilera for the past two years,
is a partner at the talent management
firm Irving Azoff. According
to news reports, he popped the
question on Saturday over a
romantic dinner, and presented
her with a $114,000 diamond
ring from Stephen Webster. The
proposal took place in a hotel
room filled with rose petals,
red and pink balloons and gift
boxes, each containing a present
and a self-penned poem.
"When I got to the last
box, there was a ring in it,"
Aguilera told PEOPLE at the
time. "He got down on one
knee and said, 'Will you do
me the honor of being my wife?'
I've been floating ever since."
"Christina was very surprised,"
a close friend of Aguilera's
told PEOPLE at the time of the
engagement. "She's ecstatic."
Their multi-day celebration
started with a Las Vegas bachelor/bachelorette
party 2 weeks before the ceremony.
The groom-to-be even carried
his fiancée over the
threshold of the restaurant
– and their families met
for the first time. Tables featured
rose petals and mini wedding
cakes. The couple then had a
romantic dinner a deux the Wednesday
before the wedding at famed
Napa Valley restaurant The French
Laundry.
The nuptials themselves took
place at sunset under a mountainside
tent at the Staglin Family Vineyards
in Rutherford, California. The
singer walked down the aisle
in a Christian Lacroix gown;
her bridesmaids wore dresses
by Stevie Wonder's wife, designer
Kai Milla.
Bride and groom exchanged wedding
bands by London-based jeweler
Stephen Webster, who also created
Aguilera's five-carat, diamond-and-platinum
engagement ring. The ceremony
took place in front of 130 friends
and family at the Staglin Family
Vineyard in Napa Valley and
featured a gospel choir. Christina’s
hair was decorated with jewels
and pulled back in a bun that
was topped with white flowers,
that she wore a dress designed
by Christian Lacroix and that
she later said the ceremony
was “amazing.”
Among the guests who watched
the pair exchange vows shortly
after 6 p.m. PST were actress
Sharon Stone, Aguilera’s
longtime manager, Irving Azoff
(who introduced the couple three
years ago when Bratman worked
for his agency) and her dancers.
On Sunday, a day after the nuptials,
the newlyweds were spotted shopping
and smooching in nearby St.
Helena, California.
