and Luciana Bozan Barroso
Following the latest trend
in celebrity marriages, Matt
Damon married Luciana Bozan
Barroso in a surprise wedding.
After learning that Luciana
was pregnant, Matt and Luciana
quietly tied the knot at New
York City Hall. Damon and his
bride exchanged wedding vows
during a small ceremony at an
undisclosed location. Bozan's
7-year-old daughter Alexia witnessed
the ceremony. Without friends
and family present, they got
on the phone immediately afterwards
to share the good news. ''They
did it real quick and then started
calling all their friends with
the good news,'' says a Damon
pal. There were no other details.
Asked if Damon's friend and
"Good Will Hunting"
co-star Ben Affleck witnessed
the wedding, spokeswoman Jennifer
Allen said no. Now that's a
quiet elopement! However, Jamal
Prince, a friend of Matt's,
discussing Matt's relationship
with Luciana once said: “He’s
very serious about her. In the
past he kept the other ones
secretive. This one he’s
not hiding.”
When they married, Matt was
35 and Luciana was 29. It was
the first marriage for Damon,
the second for Bozan. In a previous
marriage Bozan went by the name
Luciana Barroso. While Matt
was in Miami Beach filming "Stuck
on You" in 2003, they met
at Miami hotspot nightclub Crobar,
where Luciana was working as
a bartender. After a two-year
courtship, Matt proposed to
Luciana while they were in Argentina.
September 5, 2005 is the date
that Matt reportedly gave Luciana
a platinum ring from Steven
Goldfarb of Bellevue, Washington.
The ring was said to be classic
and elegant.
That same weekend, the couple
announced that they are expecting
their first child together.
"I'd love to be a dad.
I hope I'd be great at it. That's
every man's fear, yet his most
important job," Damon said
on the occasion of being a dad.
Their daughter, Isabella, was
born on June 11, 2006 in Miami,
Florida.
